Maurice Berthelot 1951 – 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sudden departure of our dear Maurice Berthelot who began his journey back to his state of stardust on September 20, 2023. Born in Blind River, Ontario in 1951, he was the husband of Jeanne Villeneuve, and the son of the late Thérèse Ménard and the late Alexandre Berthelot.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to mourn his children: Jean-Claude, Louis-Alexandre (Adèle Robitaille) and Anne-Claire; his grandchildren: Léo-Raphaël, Maximilien, Marc-Aurèle and Selma; his brothers and sisters : Pierrette (Mike Brown), André (Holly Berthelot), Alex (Debbie Berthelot), Richard (Carole Berthelot), Daniel (Sylvia Berthelot), Marcel and Lise (feu John White); many cousins, nephews, nieces, and long-time friends.

A proud Franco-Ontarian, Maurice spent his working life in Quebec where he raised his children with Jeanne. However, his little corner of happiness has always remained on the edge of the lake near his native village in northern Ontario. A well-hidden paradise with a strong sense of community that he helped cultivate and whose wealth is an important legacy passed down to his family.

Passionate about gardening, Maurice had the unique gift of growing not only plants, but also lasting friendships. His comforting meals where all were welcome, his colorful stories, his unwavering love for his family and the importance of friendships and maintaining them will always be remembered.

We will share memories, laughter and probably a few tears in his honor.
